Dr. Hemant Murthy is a board-certified hematologist, medical oncologist, internist and hospice and palliative medicine specialist who cares for people with blood cancers and complex blood disorders. He specializes in bone marrow and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, CAR-T cell therapy, acute myeloid leukemia (AML), myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). His unique training allows him to care for the whole person, helping patients navigate every stage of treatment, including some of the most advanced therapies available today.

At Mayo Clinic, Dr. Murthy serves as Chair of Quality for Mayo Clinic Florida and helps lead efforts to improve patient safety and outcomes. He is also actively involved in national and international organizations that help set quality standards for stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies. Through his leadership in research, patients may have access to innovative clinical trials studying next-generation treatments, including CRISPR-edited cell therapies and "off-the-shelf" CAR-T and natural killer (NK) cell therapies. Dr. Murthy has authored more than 145 peer-reviewed scientific publications and is committed to bringing the latest advances in cancer care to patients.

Guided by Albert Einstein’s quote, "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile," Dr. Murthy believes exceptional care begins with listening, compassion and partnership. He works closely with patients and families to create individualized treatment plans that focus not only on treating disease, but also on supporting quality of life throughout the care journey.

Outside of work, Dr. Murthy enjoys exploring new places through travel, staying active on the tennis court, and keeping up with his favorite baseball and football teams. Whether he's following a close game, discovering a new destination, or spending time outdoors, he values the opportunities these activities provide to recharge and connect with others. Most importantly, he treasures spending time with his family, whose support and encouragement continue to inspire both his personal life and his commitment to patient care.
