Dr. Graff-Radford completed his Behavioral Neurology Fellowship in 1982 and has worked within the discipline for the past 40 years. He served as Chair of the Department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic Florida from 1994 to 2004. He helped recruit many key investigators, such as Drs. Thomas Brott, Zbigniew Wszolek, James Meschia, Nilufer Taner, and Dr. Steven Younkin. In 2016 he was named the David Eisenberg Professor at Mayo Clinic. He has trained 12 Behavioral Neurology Fellows and is mentoring Dr. Gregory Day with his K award and junior faculty members Dr. Christian Lachner, Dr. Brynn Dredla and Philip Tipton. He established the Brain Bank at Mayo Clinic Florida in 1991, and later helped recruit Dr. Dennis Dickson in 1998, who took over the Brain Bank. This initiative now has more than 10,000 brains, of which more than 3,000 are from Mayo Clinic. His clinical research in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias has resulted in 770 peer review papers listed in PubMed. He has been continuously funded by NIH since 1991, when he was first funded as a satellite of the Mayo Alzheimer Disease Center. For his present active grants, the cumulative external support is $19,616,885. He served as an Executive Committee Member of the Alzheimer's Disease Research Centers (ADRCs funded by NIA) from 2006-2009 and was Chair of this Committee in 2009. He is on the NIH-funded steering committees for the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network (DIAN), the Alzheimer Disease Clinical Trial Consortium (ACTC), and the NINDS Parkinson Disease Biomarker Program (PDBP). He has served on several committees for the American Academy of Neurology including the Science Committee and the Meeting Management Committee.
