My name is Dr. Bobbie Gostout. I am a gynecologic oncologist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. And I also serve as one of the vice presidents for Mayo Clinic.
I have five sisters. I was raised in a very female household. I'm confident that that played a part in me choosing OBGYN. In my third year of residency, when we spent a lot of time in the operating room, I felt like I had a special gift — both a matter of being technically good at surgery and having the patience to do complicated surgery as well. Seeing a woman reach her five-year survival or getting a card from somebody when she's 10 years out and cancer free — those are just fantastic moments.
