Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Agitation
  2. back pain
  3. black, tarry stools
  4. bleeding from the rectum or bloody stools
  5. bleeding gums
  6. blood in the urine
  7. bloody nose
  8. blurred vision
  9. change in consciousness
  10. cloudy urine
  11. collection of blood under the skin
  12. confusion
  13. confusion as to time, place, or person
  14. constipation
  15. coughing or spitting up blood
  16. decreased urine output
  17. deep, dark purple bruise
  18. depressed mood
  19. depression
  20. difficulty in swallowing
  21. dilated neck veins
  22. dizziness
  23. drowsiness
  24. dry skin and hair
  25. enlarged pupils
  26. feeling cold
  27. fever
  28. hair loss
  29. heavy nonmenstrual vaginal bleeding
  30. hoarseness or husky voice
  31. holding false beliefs that cannot be changed by fact
  32. hostility
  33. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  34. increased sensitivity of the eyes to light
  35. increased sweating, possibly with fever or cold, clammy skin
  36. irregular breathing
  37. irregular heartbeat
  38. irritability
  39. itching
  40. lethargy
  41. loss of consciousness
  42. muscle cramps, stiffness, twitching
  43. nausea
  44. nervousness
  45. nosebleeds
  46. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  47. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  48. pains in the chest, groin, or legs, especially calves of the legs
  49. paralysis
  50. pounding in the ears
  51. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  52. red or dark brown urine
  53. red or black, tarry stools
  54. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  55. seizures
  56. sensitivity to heat
  57. severe chest pain
  58. severe headache
  59. slow or fast heartbeat
  60. sore throat
  61. stiff or sore neck
  62. stupor
  63. sudden loss of coordination
  64. sudden onset of slurred speech
  65. sudden onset of trouble breathing for no apparent reason
  66. sudden vision changes
  67. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  68. tightness in the chest
  69. trouble breathing
  70. trouble healing
  71. trouble sleeping
  72. unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness
  73. unusual tiredness or weakness
  74. voice changes
  75. vomiting
  76. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  77. weight gain or loss

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Blistering, crusting, irritation, itching, or reddening of the skin
  2. blistering, peeling, loosening of the skin
  3. cracked, dry, scaly skin
  4. cough
  5. decreased appetite
  6. diarrhea
  7. dry, flaky, scaling skin on the scalp, eyebrows, near the ears, and around the nose
  8. increased sensitivity of skin to sunlight
  9. joint or muscle pain
  10. lack or loss of strength
  11. rash with flat lesions or small raised lesions on the skins
  12. red, irritated eyes
  13. redness or other discoloration of skin
  14. severe sunburn
  15. skin rash, encrusted, scaly and oozing
  16. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  17. swelling
  18. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
