Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Agitation
  2. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  3. bloody eye
  4. blurred vision or blue-green halos seen around objects
  5. coma
  6. confusion
  7. decreased urine output
  8. depression
  9. diarrhea
  10. dizziness
  11. dry eyes
  12. fainting
  13. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  14. headache
  15. hostility
  16. irregular heartbeat recurrent
  17. irritability
  18. lethargy
  19. muscle twitching
  20. nausea
  21. nervousness
  22. palpitations
  23. pounding in the ears
  24. rapid weight gain
  25. redness, swelling, and/or itching of the eyelid
  26. seizures
  27. sensitivity of the eyes to light
  28. stupor
  29. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  30. tingling of the hands or feet
  31. unusual tiredness or weakness
  32. unusual weight gain or loss

Less common

  1. Chest pain or discomfort
  2. chills
  3. cough
  4. dilated neck veins
  5. fever
  6. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  7. irregular breathing
  8. swelling of the face, fingers feet, or lower legs
  9. thickening of bronchial secretions
  10. trouble breathing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. body aches or pain
  4. burning, numbness, tingling, or painful sensations
  5. cracked lips
  6. decreased appetite
  7. difficulty in moving
  8. ear congestion
  9. heartburn
  10. indigestion
  11. loosening of the fingernails
  12. loss or thinning of the hair
  13. loss of voice
  14. muscle or bone pain
  15. pain in the arms or legs
  16. rash
  17. redness or soreness around the fingernails
  18. sneezing
  19. sore throat
  20. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips, tongue, or inside the mouth
  21. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  22. stuffy or runny nose
  23. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  24. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  25. trouble in swallowing
  26. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  27. voice changes
  28. vomiting
  29. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet

Less common

  1. Redness, swelling, pain of the skin
  2. scaling of the skin on the hands and feet
  3. ulceration of the skin
