Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bloating or swelling of face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  2. rapid weight gain
  3. tingling of hands or feet
  4. unusual weight gain or loss

Less common

  1. Body aches or pain
  2. chills
  3. cough
  4. difficulty in breathing
  5. ear congestion
  6. fever
  7. headache
  8. loss of voice
  9. nasal congestion
  10. runny nose
  11. sneezing
  12. sore throat
  13. unusual tiredness or weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Blurred vision
  2. chest pain, tightness, or heaviness
  3. confusion
  4. congestion
  5. cough producing mucus
  6. diarrhea
  7. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position suddenly
  8. fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat
  9. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  10. hoarseness
  11. joint pain
  12. large, hive-like swelling on face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  13. loss of appetite
  14. muscle aches and pains
  15. nausea
  16. pain or discomfort in arms, jaw, back, or neck
  17. pale skin
  18. shivering
  19. shortness of breath
  20. sweating
  21. swelling or puffiness of face
  22. tender or swollen glands in neck
  23. trouble in swallowing
  24. trouble sleeping
  25. troubled breathing with exertion
  26. unusual bleeding or bruising
  27. voice changes
  28. wheezing

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Feeling of warmth
  2. redness of the face, neck, arms and occasionally, upper chest

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  4. constipation
  5. heartburn
  6. indigestion
  7. lack or loss of strength
  8. skin rash
  9. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain

Rare

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. irritation in mouth
  3. redness and swelling of gums

Incidence not known

  1. Bloated or full feeling
  2. bloody nose
  3. burning while urinating
  4. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  5. difficult or painful urination
  6. difficulty in moving
  7. discouragement
  8. disturbed color perception
  9. double vision
  10. dry mouth
  11. excess air or gas in stomach or intestines
  12. feeling sad or empty
  13. fear or nervousness
  14. frequent strong or increased urge to urinate
  15. halos around lights
  16. hives or welts
  17. inability to have or keep an erection
  18. increased need to urinate
  19. increased volume of pale or dilute urine
  20. irritability
  21. itching
  22. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  23. loss of interest or pleasure
  24. muscle cramps or stiffness
  25. night blindness
  26. overbright appearance of lights
  27. pain or tenderness around eyes and cheekbones
  28. passing gas
  29. passing urine more often
  30. redness of skin
  31. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  32. sleeplessness
  33. sores, welting, or blisters
  34. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
  35. swollen joints
  36. tiredness
  37. trouble concentrating
  38. tunnel vision
  39. unable to sleep
