Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blistering, peeling, redness, or swelling of the palms, hands, or bottoms of the feet
  2. body aches or pain
  3. burning or dry eyes
  4. chills
  5. cough
  6. difficulty in breathing
  7. ear congestion
  8. excessive tearing
  9. fever
  10. headache
  11. loss of voice
  12. muscle aches
  13. numbness, pain, tingling, or unusual sensations in the palms of the hands or bottoms of the feet
  14. pain, redness, irritation, itching, or swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
  15. sneezing
  16. sore throat
  17. stuffy or runny nose
  18. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. blistering, crusting, or reddening of the skin
  3. bone, joint, or muscle pain
  4. burning, tingling, or numbness in the hands and feet
  5. burning or stinging of the skin
  6. chest pain
  7. difficulty in moving
  8. lump or growth on the skin
  9. muscle cramps or stiffness
  10. painful cold sores or blisters on the lips, nose, eyes, or genitals
  11. painful or difficult urination
  12. scaly patches on the skin
  13. skin rash
  14. sores or white patches on the lips, mouth, or throat
  15. swollen glands
  16. swollen joints
  17. unusual bleeding or bruising


  1. Feeling of discomfort
  2. hives, itching
  3. lightheadedness, dizziness, fainting
  4. pain in the groin or legs, especially the calves
  5. pain or swelling in the joints
  6. severe, sudden headache
  7. slurred speech
  8. sudden loss of coordination
  9. sudden, severe weakness or numbness in the arm or leg
  10. swelling of the hands, face, or mouth
  11. trouble breathing
  12. trouble swallowing
  13. vision changes

Incidence not known

  1. Large, hive-like swelling on face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of the skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site

Less common

  1. Burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  2. diarrhea
  3. indigestion
  4. mouth or throat pain
  5. stomach upset
  6. tenderness in the stomach area
  7. toothache
  8. trouble sleeping
