Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Agitation
  2. anxiety
  3. back pain
  4. bloody urine
  5. blurred vision
  6. chest pain or tightness
  7. chills
  8. coma
  9. confusion as to time, place, or person
  10. cough
  11. decreased frequency in urinating
  12. diarrhea
  13. difficulty swallowing
  14. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  15. drooling
  16. drowsiness
  17. dry mouth
  18. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  19. fever
  20. hallucinations
  21. headache
  22. heartburn
  23. hoarseness
  24. holding false beliefs that cannot be changed by fact
  25. increased thirst
  26. irritability
  27. loss of appetite
  28. lower back or side pain
  29. mood or mental changes
  30. muscle or bone pain
  31. muscle spasm or twitching
  32. nausea and vomiting
  33. problems with speech or speaking
  34. seizures
  35. stiff neck
  36. stomach pain
  37. sweating
  38. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  39. tenderness, pain, swelling, warmth, skin discoloration, and prominent superficial veins at the injection site
  40. trouble breathing
  41. unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness
  42. unusual tiredness or weakness
  43. weight gain

Less common

  1. Blue lips and fingernails
  2. difficult, fast, noisy breathing
  3. pale skin
  4. unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination

Incidence not known

  1. Dark urine
  2. hives, itching, skin rash
  3. light-colored stools
  4. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  5. upper right stomach pain
  6. yellow eyes and skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Constipation
  2. trouble sleeping

Less common

  1. Darkening of the skin
  2. dry skin
  3. increased sweating
  4. loss or thinning of the hair
