إذا لم تستطع تذكر آخر مرة فحصت فيها ضغط دمك، فحدد موعدًا مع طبيبك. ربما يكون ضغط دمك مرتفعًا منذ سنوات دون أن يظهر عليك عرَض واحد. اطلب من طبيبك قياس ضغط دمك مرة واحدة على الأقل كلّ عامين بدءًا من عمر 18 عامًا. إذا كنت تبلغ 40 عامًا أو أكثر، أو كان عمرك يتراوح بين 18 إلى 39 عامًا ويُحتمل تعرضك للإصابة بارتفاع ضغط الدم، فاطلب من طبيبك قياس ضغط الدم مرة كل عام. قد يوصي الطبيب بقياس ضغط الدم عدد مرات أكثر، إذا ارتفع ضغط دمك أو زادت عوامل الخطر الأخرى للإصابة بمرض قلبي.
