يرتفع ضغط الدم في الغالب كلما زاد الوزن. وبشكل عام، كلما نقص الوزن بنسبة كبيرة، انخفض ضغط دمك. إِذا كنت مصابًا بالسمنة، فيمكن أن يؤدي التخلص من بعض الوزن البسيط إلى خفض ضغط الدم. وبصفة عامة، يمكن خفض ضغط الدم بمقدار 1 ميلليمتر من الزئبق (ملم زئبقي) تقريبًا مع كل كيلوغرام (حوالي 2.2 رطل) تفقده من وزنك. يمكن التعاون مع الطبيب لتحديد مقدار الوزن المراد التخلص منه وأفضل طريقة لتحقيق ذلك.
