Dr. Moaven is a surgical oncologist with a clinical focus on pancreatic and hepatobiliary cancers. He is specialized in:
- Surgical treatment and multidisciplinary management of pancreatic cancer
- Surgical treatment of primary and metastatic liver tumors including colorectal liver metastasis, cholangiocarcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, and gastrointestinal malignancies.
He has background and expertise in translational studies and outcomes research in various gastrointestinal malignancies. His research program is focused on the personalized approach in the treatment of pancreatic cancer and colorectal liver metastasis. His translational research program utilizes ex vivo patient-derived 3D tissue cultures as a platform for pharmaco-profiling and treatment prediction. His research also focuses on novel immunotherapeutic approaches for the treatment of pancreatic cancer applying engineered oncolytic viruses in combination with novel therapeutic modalities such as immune-checkpoint inhibitors.
