Andres Jaramillo, Ph.D., is the Director of the Histocompatibility Laboratory at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, a position he has held since 2017. He started his career as Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology at the University of Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia (1994-1997).
Dr. Jaramillo has held several positions across the United States including Associate Director of the Histocompatibility Laboratory at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona (2015-2017), Director of the Histocompatibility Laboratory at Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network in Chicago (2007-2015), Director of the Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics Laboratory and Assistant Professor of Pathology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago (2004-2007), Assistant Director of the HLA Laboratory at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Research Assistant Professor of Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis (2001-2004), and Research Associate in the Department of Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis (1997-2001).
Dr. Jaramillo has extensive experience in immunology, histocompatibility, and immunogenetics. He has published more than 200 journal articles, book chapters, and meeting abstracts. Currently, his scientific output yields an h-index of 31 and has been cited over 2900 times.
