Women's Health Clinic in Minnesota

Research

Women's health has emerged as an important area of research and medical care. The academic environment at Mayo Clinic fosters collaboration among doctors, researchers and service areas, and promotes development of new and innovative treatments for women's health issues. Research continues to confirm that biological differences between men and women lead to differences in the way that certain diseases present and respond to treatment.

The Women's Health Clinic is committed to ongoing research on menopause, hormone replacement therapy and sexual health. Studies in progress include:

  • Kronos Early Estrogen Prevention Study (KEEPS)
  • Women's knowledge, understanding and experiences with bioidentical compounded hormones
  • Pharmacokinetics of bioidentical compounded estrogens
  • Validation of instruments assessing sexual function in women
  • Low-dose vaginal estrogen therapy for atrophic vaginitis
  • Effects of vaginal estrogen therapy on genital sensation in postmenopausal women with sexual concerns
