Mayo Clinic has long been known for its commitment to the use of well-trained and resourceful volunteers in supplementing and complementing the goals of its programs and departments.
The Mayo Clinic Docent Program is among many diverse service opportunities available for volunteers. Docents will lead between six and 10 one-hour tours of Mayo Clinic Hospital each year.
Docent training involves studying printed, graphical and photographic material provided by Volunteer Services and other Mayo Clinic sources, including a comprehensive summary of Mayo's history as well as floor-by-floor recaps of hospital facts and key activities prepared by our docents.
Prospective docents are also provided with multiple opportunities to shadow an experienced docent leading a tour.
