Saint Marys Hospital Auxiliary Celebrates 50 Years of Service

In 1958, 33 women joined Sister Mary Brigh Cassidy to start the SMH Auxiliary — they simply wanted to do their part in meeting the needs of the patient. Fifty years, millions of dollars in funded projects and countless volunteer hours later, a 330-member auxiliary continues to fulfill that vision.

Events and special publications planned throughout 2008 include:

  • Mirage displays rotating in staff cafeteria, Francis lobby and Mary Brigh lobby
  • Kiosk in Mary Brigh lobby with SMH auxiliary memorabilia
  • Mayoral proclamation by Rochester Mayor Ardell Brede
  • Commemorative notecards for sale in gift shop
  • 50th Anniversary booklet and buttons
  • Staff Appreciation Tea (June)
  • Heritage days recognition (October)
