I began volunteering at Mayo a few years ago primarily because it gave me a reason to get out of my apartment a couple of days per week and interact with other people. However, my activity at Mayo has grown into a whole lot more than just "getting out."
I am a member of the group whose volunteer activities are performed right in our beautiful volunteer office located high atop the Siebens Building. We do such things as put together folders for Mayo classes, prepare envelopes for mailing, send out various invitations and do a lot of visiting and having fun in the process. I will always remember the nice little party that the other volunteers had for my 90th birthday.
My retirement life seems so much better and happier since I became a Mayo volunteer. The atmosphere is so uplifting, the people are so friendly and I feel like I am doing something worthwhile.
