Patients' Library

Volunteer
Young Volunteer

Two volunteer services are offered in the patient library: room workers and cart workers. Room workers assist patients and family members who visit the library with reference questions, and volunteers help in selection of materials and use of computers. They use computers to check materials in and out and create patients' records. Volunteers take phone orders for materials that are delivered to the patient's room. The cart worker takes the library cart to patient rooms, allowing the patient personal selection of reading material. Circulation desk coverage also is available from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Mayo Clinic Young Volunteers have opportunities to work in the library at Rochester Methodist Hospital and Saint Marys Hospital. Responsibilities vary at each site and the shift times are 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
