Volunteers visit rooms and lounges in the outpatient area, greeting relatives and friends and offering them a beverage while they wait for the patient to return from surgery.
When the patient has returned from surgery, the volunteer serves prescribed nourishment as requested by a nurse.
Hours are Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with specific time slots varying depending on the hospital.
