Patient/Family Support

Mayo Clinic Young Volunteers assist patients, visitors, and staff with various responsibilities on Mary Brigh 9, Neurosurgery patient care unit. In addition, volunteers have opportunities to observe team members within the unit health care team.

Many opportunities are available and some duties include:

  • Review orientation booklet with family members and patients
  • Provide assistance with Video on Demand and Care Pages
  • Visit with patients and family members
  • Make coffee for family lounge
  • Play games with patients
  • Distribute patient education booklets
  • Accompany stable patients and family members off unit to courtyard, chapel, and coffee shop

Shift times are available on weekdays and weekends: Tuesday - Friday, 9 – 11 a.m. and 3:30 – 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 3:30 – 5 p.m.
