Clinical researchers at Mayo have made important contributions to the evaluation of this relatively new treatment for painful vertebral fractures. Mayo Clinic in Rochester was awarded the only National Institutes of Health (NIH)–funded trial comparing vertebroplasty to medical management for treatment of osteoporosis.
