Mayo Clinic's Department of Urology provides consultation, diagnosis and treatment for all malignant and benign urologic diseases in male and female patients in both pediatric and adult age groups.
Compassionate, state-of-the-art care encompassing all areas of urology is provided by a clinical team composed of nationally and internationally accomplished physicians who specialize in diagnosing and treating prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, urinary incontinence, impotence, benign prostatic hyperplasia and kidney stones. Our urologists are experienced in reconstructive and laparoscopic surgery as well as standard procedures.
The expertise of the Urology Department covers the spectrum of clinical urology. Our physicians are leaders in clinical research that enhances our capability to offer the most advanced treatments available. We are currently working on developing novel therapies for treatment of advanced urologic cancers. Our vast clinical experience and ongoing research into minimally invasive procedures are reflected in our low complication rates and improved outcomes.
One area of special expertise is laparoscopic surgery — a minimally invasive surgery that results in shorter hospital stays, less discomfort and bleeding and a shorter recovery period. Laparoscopy is not performed in all urology departments because it is a relatively new technique which requires special training and experience. We also provide robot-assisted radical prostatectomy with nerve-sparing in Arizona. Learn about robotic surgery in urology.
