Mayo Clinic patients who choose to fly most frequently use the Rochester International Airport or the Minneapolis – St. Paul International Airport.

Several cities in the United States are named Rochester. When you arrange to come to Mayo, make sure your travel agent understands that your destination is Rochester, Minnesota. When checking in for your flight, make sure your baggage has been properly tagged (RST).

Rochester International Airport

Two major commercial carriers provide daily, regularly scheduled service to Rochester International Airport. Most service is by jet aircraft, and passengers can load and unload through all-weather gate-to-plane jetways. A few flights are not jet service and passengers must climb stairs to board. Please check with your travel agent or airline when you make your flight arrangements to determine the type of service provided.

Minneapolis – St. Paul International Airport

Minneapolis – St. Paul International Airport is located 80 miles north of Rochester and is a major hub with regularly scheduled service provided by most airlines. Connecting flights to the Rochester International Airport or ground transportation to Rochester is available.

American Airlines

Daily, non-stop jetliner service to and from Rochester is available from American's hub at O'Hare International Airport (ORD) in Chicago. Wheelchair and electric cart assistance are available. Make your request for assistance at the gate after you arrive. Assistance also is available at the American Airlines ticket counter at Rochester International Airport.

Northwest Airlines

Northwest Airlines serves Rochester from its hub at Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP). Daily, non-stop jetliner service to and from Rochester is available. Distances between gates for connecting flights at Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport can be significant. Allow extra time between flights. Wheelchair and electric cart assistance are available. Make your request at the time of reservation or check-in.

Airfare Discounts

At their discretion, airlines sometimes offer special discounts for patients and their family members traveling to Mayo Clinic. The discount programs may begin and end on short notice.
