  • Lung Rehab after Surgery

Mayo Clinic develops program to start rehabilitation soon after thoracic surgery. The program involves having patients begin rehabilitation a day or two after lung or esophageal surgery (as long as the patients are willing and able to do so).

  • Pectus Repair

One out of every 400 babies is born with a condition called pectus. That's when your chest wall doesn't grow properly and becomes concave. Some cases are mild - a matter of cosmetics. But others may cause problems with the heart or lungs because there's not enough room for them to function. Often pectus cases are repaired in the teen years. But the man you're about to meet had the operation much later.

  • Photodynamic Therapy

Occasional heartburn is usually nothing to worry about. But if heartburn hits two or more times a week, you may be at risk of developing a condition called Barrett's esophagus that increases your risk of cancer.
