Overview

The team of experienced thoracic surgeons at Mayo Clinic in Florida provides high-quality, comprehensive diagnosis and surgical care to adolescents and adults with diseases of the lungs, trachea, esophagus, diaphragm, chest wall and mediastinum.

Mayo Clinic's chest surgery practice began in Rochester, Minn., in 1915. Many surgical innovations still employed throughout the world were developed by Mayo Clinic thoracic surgeons.

The surgical team in Florida is staffed by certified cardiothoracic surgeons who have specialty training and experience to diagnose and surgically treat diseases of the lungs and chest. The surgeons work in partnership with physicians in Pulmonary Medicine, Hematology/Oncology and Neurology to provide multispecialty expertise. The team regularly reviews surgical outcomes in a continuing effort to provide the highest standard of care to patients. Our Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program is available to patients needing therapy after surgery.
