Testicular Cancer

Types

Physicians classify most cases of testicular cancer as germ cell tumors. Germ cell tumors may be further classified as seminoma, nonseminoma, and others.

Seminoma, the most common type of testicular cancer, represents about 50 percent of all cases. Nearly all men recover from this type of cancer if it is discovered and treated early.

Nonseminoma includes choriocarcinoma, embryonal carcinoma, teratoma and yolk sac tumors. These cancers tend to occur in men in their 20s.

Less common forms of testicular cancer include lymphomas and Leydig cell tumors.
