Clinical Trials

Below is a list of Stop Smoking Services clinical trials from the clinical trials database at Mayo Clinic.

This list includes only trials about which Mayo researchers choose to publish information. Mayo Clinic may be conducting other trials which are not in this database. Mayo's clinical trials include experimental treatments, often unavailable elsewhere, which frequently lead to improved patient care for people worldwide. Patients should ask their doctor at Mayo about clinical trials appropriate for their situation.

ClearWay Support Person Study
This research study is being done to learn the effectiveness of a telephone-based program for support persons who are concerned about a cigarette smoker. This study will help support person learn new ways to be supportive as well as encourage a smoker to call the QUITPLAN Helpline. The QUITPLAN Helpline is the tobacco Helpline for the state of Minnesota. Research shows that Helpline's are an effective way for smokers to quit or make a plan to quit. The study does not involve any contact with the smoker. In fact the smoker does not need to be interested in or even thinking about quitting smoking. If the smoker does choose to call QUITPLAN, they are eligible for free services (counseling and/or nicotine replacement therapy) for six months. The six months starts on the date of support person enrolling into our study.
