Both competitive and recreational athletes are at risk of an injury that limits their optimal performance. The Sports Medicine Center involves specialists from a variety of disciplines who work in concert to meet the needs of each patient.

One purpose of the Sports Medicine Center is to treat sports- and activity-related injuries and help athletes quickly return to their sport. Many injuries affect the muscles, ligaments, and/or bones (the musculoskeletal system). In fact, injuries to the musculoskeletal system are the most common injuries sustained in sports. These injuries are best diagnosed by a physician trained in musculoskeletal medicine, who can isolate and correct the cause to avoid recurrent injuries.

The Sports Medicine Center also helps establish appropriate exercise programs for people interested in starting a routine exercise program. After a medical evaluation and consultations, an individualized program to improve one's overall health can be initiated and maintained.

Sports Medicine Center Mission
To provide a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to evaluate, diagnose and treat musculoskelatal sports- and fitness-related injuries; provide preventive care through the promotion of wellness, fitness, and performance enhancement; and foster related research and education. The center is an outpatient clinic.
