Spinal Cord Rehabilitation in Minnesota

Facilities

Mayo Clinic's comprehensive rehabilitation unit is a 47-bed, state-of-the-art facility located in the Mary Brigh Building, part of Saint Marys Hospital.

Patient rooms, therapy and social areas are designed to provide a comfortable atmosphere for patients and their families. The unit's decor includes bright colors and easy-to-read signs. Each room has a large window and plenty of space to accommodate wheelchairs and other rehabilitation equipment. There is a patio for easy access to the outdoors, and a lounge area. Laundry facilities also are available.

For patients to gain self-confidence and improve daily living skills, a specially designed apartment is available to practice basic living skills. Life in the Rehabilitation Unit is a transition to living successfully outside of the hospital. To promote a wellness focus while on the rehabilitation unit, patients wear street clothes during the day. Activities of dressing and undressing are incorporated into therapy sessions.
