Specialists at the Sleep Disorders Center at Mayo Clinic in Arizona diagnose and treat sleep disorders in adults. Located at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix, the sleep center sees about 3,000 patients a year, mostly for sleep-disordered breathing.
Specialists in Pulmonary Medicine and Psychiatry and Psychology, who are certified in sleep medicine, treat patients at the sleep clinic. Sleep specialists are involved at every stage of the patient's sleep evaluation, from the initial examination and treatment to therapy and follow-up care.
When necessary, specialists in Neurology and Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) join the treatment team. This integrated approach enables Mayo doctors to quickly assemble a team of specialists to address all of a patient's sleep medicine needs.
The sleep center has six beds for polysomnograms (overnight sleep studies), which it offers at least six nights a week. The center also conducts multiple sleep latency tests, actigraphy (tracking sleep-wake cycles), overnight oximetry (measuring blood-oxygen levels) and portable sleep testing.
The sleep center's spacious rooms have queen-sized beds, private bathrooms, televisions and Internet access.
