Obstetrics & Gynecology in Minnesota

Gynecology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Gynecology

The Division of Gynecology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., is comprised of physicians, surgeons, physician's assistants and advance practice nurses who specialize in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of problems of the female reproductive organs. This group includes specialists in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

Gynecologists at Mayo Clinic provide both preventive gynecological care and diagnostic services for women. Preventive care includes Pap smear testing, contraceptive counseling, limited sex counseling, and the provision of preventive services such as mammography, colon cancer screening and lipid testing.

Each provider has, in addition to preventive medicine skills, knowledge of the range of gynecologic problems. Different from most institutions, gynecologists at Mayo don't do gynecologic surgery. Patients requiring surgery are offered diagnostic services and then, when the problem is identified, are referred to the surgical specialist.
