Mayo Clinic's physician researchers have made many advances in laparoscopic surgery to treat rectal prolapse, the most important development in the treatment of this condition. These kinds of procedures result in smaller incisions, less bleeding, quicker recovery and shorter hospital stays. Mayo Clinic also studies the results of surgery for rectal prolapse through a patient registry.
