Rectal Cancer

Treatment in Florida

Mayo Clinic in Florida treats patients with the treatment options described on these pages. Endoscopic procedures are performed at a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgical center for gastroenterology. At this facility, more than 15,000 outpatient procedures are completed annually, including colonoscopy, laser endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasonography. Patients at Mayo Clinic in Florida who require hospitalization are admitted to the Mayo Clinic hospital on the Jacksonville campus.

Surgery is the main treatment, although for some patients with early cancer, it may be possible to remove the tumor through a flexible endoscope or other minimally invasive approach. Radiation treatments and chemotherapy also play an important role in treatment.

Treatment Team
