Interventional Neuroradiology

The neuroradiology section provides neurointerventional procedures of the head and spine. Interventional procedures include:

Vertebroplasty/Kyphoplasty - After consultation with the referring clinician to determine if the patient is a candidate for this procedure, vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty is performed for acute and subacute compression fractures.

Extra-cranial embolization of vascular tumors supplied by the external carotid branches is performed using PVC particles and/or gelfoam. This is done in conjunction with a diagnostic angiogram. Embolization of internal maxillary arteries is done for refractory or life threatening epistaxis.

With the FDA approval of carotid stents and protection devices, carotid stents are now available for patients with appropriate indications.

Intracranial embolization of vascular malformations of the brain and coiling of intracerebral aneurysms as well as other intracranial interventions are also available.
