Radiofrequency ablation for cancer

Research

Mayo Clinic radiologists and cancer specialists are experienced in the use of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for the treatment of tumors. Researchers are studying the safety and efficacy of RFA in:

  • Treating metastatic melanoma
  • Relieving bone tumor pain
  • Combining it with chemotherapy agents

Mayo Clinic is a member of the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, a national clinical research group that conducts top-quality trials aimed at controlling, treating and preventing cancer.
