Mayo Clinic and the Rochester Public Library are partnering to bring the national touring exhibit RACE: Are we so different? to Rochester, Minn.

The exhibit will be on display at the library from May through September 2010.
For more information, see:

About the exhibit

The exhibit explores race through three lenses:

History
Sorting people by physical differences is a recent invention. Discover how the development of the idea of race is closely linked to the early development of the United States.

Human variation
Racial and ethnic categories, which have changed over time, are human-made. We now know that human beings are more alike genetically than any other living species.

Lived experience
Discover that race and racism is not inside our heads, but in fact is built into our laws, traditions and institutions.

RACE: Are we so different? is produced by the American Anthropological Association, with assistance from the Science Museum of Minnesota. The exhibit was made possible by funding from the National Science Foundation and the Ford Foundation.
