More than 750 patients have been treated at Mayo Clinic in Florida in the last 20 years, and about 100 are receiving care at any one time. Patients have been successfully treated with all available forms of treatment, including transition from intravenous medication to oral therapy. Successful innovations at Mayo's Florida campus include multi-organ transplantation and refining the use of echocardiography to more accurately measure pulmonary artery pressures. The program has several active clinical research protocols.

Specialists in Pulmonary Medicine coordinate the care of patients with pulmonary hypertension. Specialists from Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Transplant Surgery may also be involved in treating patients with pulmonary hypertension.
