The Mayo Mood Clinic is an outpatient program that evaluates and treats adults age 18 and over who have treatment-resistant (refractory) depression or bipolar disorder. The mood clinic is for people who continue to experience mild to moderate symptoms of a mood disorder that can be treated in an outpatient setting.
The Mayo Mood Clinic team is led by a psychiatrist and includes other clinical staff with broad experience and expertise in treating mood disorders. Specialized assessment assures that the treatment is tailored and appropriate to the needs of each patient.
An initial psychiatric assessment looks comprehensively at each patient's medical, emotional and behavioral needs. Then, an individual treatment plan is created in consultation with the patient.
Focused specialty consultations are also available for related conditions or symptoms. The goal of treatment in the mood clinic is to provide comprehensive care by addressing all psychiatric and medical needs of each patient.
Patients at the Mayo Mood Clinic may be eligible to participate in clinical research studies and genomics testing related to treatment of mood disorders. Learn more about current research and genomics testing available to patients who meet certain criteria.
