Referring a Patient to Psychiatry and Psychology

Mayo Clinic specialists are committed to working with referring physicians to provide the care that their patients need.

Call 507-266-5100 to refer patients.

Reporting back: Following an evaluation, a report summarizing the results and a recommended treatment plan will be sent promptly to the physician who referred the patient to Mayo Clinic.

Complex cases: In more complicated cases, Mayo specialists will call to discuss the case with the referring physician.

Nonpsychiatric care: If the patient needs other specialty care, the psychiatrist or psychologist will consult with other Mayo specialists to address the needs of the patient and communicate the results to the referring physician.
