The Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at Mayo Clinic is one of the largest psychiatric treatment groups in the United States with more than 60 psychiatrists and psychologists representing every aspect of psychiatric medicine.

The department cares for both adults and children. Many staff members also conduct research and are involved in training new specialists, with 47 residents and fellows in training.

Most patients are treated on an outpatient basis, but the department conducts several inpatient programs within the Generose Building, the Psychiatry Treatment Center that adjoins Saint Marys Hospital. The Generose Building has 108 licensed beds.
