Pituitary Tumors

Symptoms

A pituitary tumor can cause many symptoms, depending on its size, location, and whether it results in overproduction or underproduction of hormones.

Tumor signs and symptoms initially may be vague and may come and go, making diagnosis difficult. Other diseases also can cause similar signs and symptoms.

Pituitary tumor signs and symptoms can include:

  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Weakness
  • Seizures
  • Low blood pressure
  • Vision loss, especially peripheral vision
  • Clear, watery nasal drainage
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Constipation
  • Intolerance to cold
  • Body hair loss
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Unintended weight loss or gain
  • Symptoms of pituitary hormone deficiency
