Rochester schools comprise a public school system with 3 high schools, 16 elementary schools and 5 middle schools, as well as parochial, charter and private school options. Eleven higher education institutions, including the new University of Minnesota – Rochester branch, offer a range of academic programs and degrees.

Some highlights from the Rochester Public Schools' 2006 Annual Report:

  • Rochester Public Schools was a recent recipient the Minnesota Council of Quality's Award in Education at the Achievement level – the highest recognition ever awarded to a school district by the Council.
