Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Minnesota

Overview

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) specialists at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota help restore movement and function to people disabled by diseases or injury.

Physical Medicine doctors (called physiatrists – FIZ-ee-at-rists) provide compassionate inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation care that considers the needs, abilities and objectives of each patient. Treatment options include physical modalities such as heat or ice, acupuncture and therapeutic exercise to improve function.

A team of rehabilitation professionals, including occupational therapists, physical therapists, recreational therapists, speech-language pathologists and rehabilitation nurses, help you return to a productive and satisfying life.

Educating you about your medical condition and your care is an important part of rehabilitation care at Mayo Clinic.

The Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at Saint Marys Hospital is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
