Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Overview

The goal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Mayo Clinic is to help people who have experienced disabling diseases or traumatic injury to regain control of their lives by restoring movement and function. Physiatrists, assisted by physical therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists and other rehabilitation professionals, create individualized therapy plans that consider the unique needs, abilities, and objectives of each patient.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialists provide care to both inpatients and outpatients at Mayo Clinic. Children are treated only in Rochester. In addition to a sports medicine clinic, the practice offers services in conjunction with other Mayo specialties for chronic pain, movement problems, various nervous system conditions and rehabilitation following trauma or surgery. Services provided through Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Mayo include care for the following medical conditions:

Rehabilitation specialists at Mayo provide thorough evaluations, comprehensive diagnoses, and compassionate care. There are five physicians practicing in Jacksonville, Fla., 40 in Rochester, Minn., and seven in Arizona
