Permanent Prostate Brachytherapy

Treatment in Arizona

For selected patients with prostate cancer, implanting the gland with radioactive seeds is an effective treatment option. Performed as outpatient surgery at Mayo Clinic Hospital on the Phoenix campus, the procedure allows the patient to return to normal activity the next day. More than 1,000 patients have been treated with seed implantation for prostate cancer at Mayo Clinic in Arizona during the past 15 years.

Treatment Team

Mayo Clinic emphasizes a collaborative approach to care. This treatment involves specialists from Radiation Oncology, Urology, Diagnostic Radiology and Anesthesiology. The radiation oncology team for prostate seed implants includes a physician, dosimetrist and physicist.
