All diagnosis and treatment options for peripheral arterial disease (PAD) described in these pages are available at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.
Mayo Clinic takes a team approach to diagnosing and treating peripheral arterial disease through the Mayo Clinic Gonda Vascular Center. Multidisciplinary specialists care for patients with PAD, who may see vascular and endovascular surgeons, medical specialists in diagnostic and interventional radiology and others.
Because of poor circulation in their legs and arms, patients with peripheral arterial disease may have cuts, scrapes or other wounds that are slow to heal or may grow in size, becoming a vascular ulcer.
Specialists in the Wound/Vascular Ulcer Healing Clinic within the Division of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine at Mayo Clinic work together to provide expert medical care for these patients. Patients may be referred to other Mayo specialists to improve circulation and heal wounds.
The Mayo Clinic Cardiovascular Health Clinic is a collaborative effort of cardiologists, exercise physiologists, dietitians, specially trained nurses, certified exercise specialists and cardiopulmonary exercise technicians within the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases to provide patients with guidelines for preventing heart and blood vessel diseases.
Services include cardiovascular and cardiopulmonary exercise testing, personal exercise prescription, supervised exercise training, cardiovascular health profiles and assessments, health education and risk factor modification with long-term follow-up.
