About Pediatrics at Mayo Clinic in Rochester

Child

Mayo Clinic in Rochester has been providing inpatient and outpatient care for infants, children and adolescents of all social and economic backgrounds since 1911. More than 100 pediatric and adolescent physician specialists in more than 40 specialty areas provide care ranging from routine check-ups to the most complex surgical procedures.

Mayo Clinic treats more than 50,000 children and adolescents each year, including some 5,000 hospital patients. Mayo Clinic pediatric and adolescent surgeons perform more than 8,000 procedures annually.

Physicians and allied health care personnel use a multidisciplinary approach to provide comprehensive care in a patient- and family-oriented environment. Patients at Mayo Clinic have access to the latest medical treatments and technology, along with groundbreaking clinical trials.

As a major tertiary referral center, we see children from the Rochester area, the Midwest, and around the world who have complex medical problems. Mayo is also a medical education center and the pediatricians of tomorrow--medical students, residents and fellows--play an important role in caring for children at the Hospital.

We understand that going to the doctor's office or hospital can be a difficult and confusing experience for children and their family members. Mayo's pledge to you is twofold: to provide excellent health care services and to help make your child's visit as comfortable as possible.
