Symptoms
Symptoms of a urinary tract infection in children may not always be easily recognized, especially in infants and toddlers. Symptoms can include:
- Fever
- Urine that smells or appears cloudy
- Pain and tenderness above the pubic bone
- Flank pain and tenderness
- Burning with urination
- Blood in the urine
- Greater frequency
- Urgent need to urinate
- Irritability
- Lack of appetite
- Nausea or vomiting
- Loss of urinary control
