Urinary Tract Infections

Symptoms

Symptoms of a urinary tract infection in children may not always be easily recognized, especially in infants and toddlers. Symptoms can include:

  • Fever
  • Urine that smells or appears cloudy
  • Pain and tenderness above the pubic bone
  • Flank pain and tenderness
  • Burning with urination
  • Blood in the urine
  • Greater frequency
  • Urgent need to urinate
  • Irritability
  • Lack of appetite
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Loss of urinary control
