Symptoms

Symptoms of a urinary tract infection in children may not always be easily recognized, especially in infants and toddlers. Symptoms can include:

Fever
Urine that smells or appears cloudy
Pain and tenderness above the pubic bone
Flank pain and tenderness
Burning with urination
Blood in the urine
Greater frequency
Urgent need to urinate
Irritability
Lack of appetite
Nausea or vomiting
Loss of urinary control
