Pediatric Family-Centered Rehabilitation Program in Minnesota

Facilities

Saint Mary's Hospital

Mayo Clinic's comprehensive rehabilitation unit is a 47-bed, state-of-the-art facility located in the Mary Brigh Building at Saint Marys Hospital. The facility is located around the corner from Mayo Eugenio Litta Children's Hospital, which is also located within Saint Marys Hospital.

Patient rooms, therapy and social areas are designed to provide a comfortable atmosphere for children, adolescents and their families. The unit's décor includes bright colors and easy-to-read signs. Each room has a large window and plenty of space to accommodate wheelchairs and other rehabilitation equipment. Roll-away beds are provided for a parent who wishes to "room in" with his or her child. A patio offers easy access to the outdoors and a lounge with computer access as well as games and puzzles.

A play area is available for younger patients to use during their free time; it is staffed by Child Life Specialists. A teen lounge area is also enjoyed by adolescents patients. Multiple age-appropriate activities are planned each week by Child Life Specialists and are available to all pediatric patients in the hospital. Possible activities include seasonal parties, pet visits, and crafts.
