Macular Degeneration

Macular Degeneration is a free 60-minute class offered in the Patient Education Center. After completing the class, you should be able to:

• Understand the difference between dry and wet macular degeneration and how vision loss occurs
• Understand the roles of food and vitamin-mineral supplements to prevent disease progression
• Properly use an Amsler grid and identify when to call a physician
• Address how to prevent social isolation
• Begin to develop a plan to use Mayo Clinic Low Vision Services or state and national services
