Keeping Your Kidneys Healthy
Keeping Your Kidneys Healthy is a 60-minute class offered in the Patient Education Center. After completing this class, you should be able to:
- Describe basic kidney function
- Describe the disease process leading to kidney failure
- Recognize that lifestyle change may prevent or delay costly and time-consuming dialysis or kidney transplantation
- Identify critical management issues (blood pressure and diabetes control, diet, exercise)
- Recognize that anemia can result from loss of kidney function
- Identify the link between kidney disease and risk of heart disease
- Describe proteinuria and how to manage it and create an action plan for a healthier lifestyle
