Keeping Your Kidneys Healthy

Keeping Your Kidneys Healthy is a 60-minute educational program designed to help individuals understand kidney function and how to keep kidneys healthy.

Class objectives include:

  • Describe basic kidney function
  • Describe disease process leading to kidney failure
  • Recognize that lifestyle change may prevent or delay costly and time consuming dialysis or kidney transplantation
  • Identify critical management issues (blood pressure and diabetes control, diet, exercise)
  • Recognize that anemia can be a result of loss of kidney function
  • Identify link between kidney disease and risk for heart disease
  • Describe proteinuria and how to manage it and create an action plan for a healthier lifestyle

Register by calling 507-284-8140 or my making an appointment at the Patient Education Center reception desk. Programs are offered Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and can be scheduled to fit with your other clinic appointments.
